Bravo Award

Bravo Award Nomination Form   

Objective
The Starbucks Bravo Award recognizes partners that achieve goals that support the mission, values and objectives of Starbucks. Partners that receive the Bravo! Award continuously strive to be their best while courageously leading themselves and others to achieve exceptional results.


Examples of actions and behaviors that have earned Bravo Awards

  • Significant outstanding performance on tasks related to a partner’s job description.
  • Outstanding display of leadership (day-to-day, on a project or one-time event).
  • Outstanding achievement on service, sales, savings and quality related metrics.

Eligibility
Partners below the company officer level are eligible to receive a Starbucks Bravo Award.

Selection Process

All Starbucks vice presidents and above may approve Bravo Awards.

Nomination Process for Retail Partners:

  • Any partner may nominate another partner for this award.
  • Retail partners should submit a completed Bravo Award nomination form to a Partner Resources representative at their regional office.
  • Partner Resources will review the nomination to ensure it meets the Bravo Award criteria.
    • If the nomination does not meet the Bravo Award criteria, Partner Resources will contact the nominating partner to explain the reason for the decline. 
  • If the nomination does meet the criteria of the Bravo Award, Partner Resources should forward the nomination to the regional vice president for approval. 
  • Once approved Partner Resources should submit the Bravo order by emailing Recognit@Starbucks.com for processing.  Approved partners may order directly from the Starbucks Recognition website at www.sbuxrecognition.com.  You may also contact Starbucks Recognition customer service at (800) 732.6497.

Nomination Process for Non-retail Partners:

  • Any partner may nominate another partner for this award.
  • Non-Retail partners should submit completed nominations to Starbucks Recognition via email at Recognit@Starbucks.com
  • Partner Services will review the Bravo nomination to ensure it meets the Bravo Award criteria.
    • If the nomination does not meet the Bravo Award criteria, Partner Services will contact the nominating partner to explain the reason for the decline. 
  • If the nomination does meet the Bravo Award criteria, Partner Services will forward the nomination to the appropriate vice president and/or Partner Resources representative for approval. 
  • Once approved, Partner Services will place the order for the award and deliver it to the nominating partner for presentation.  Any additional information necessary for the production of the award will be requested at this time.

Award
Recipients of the Bravo Award may receive:

  • Personalized Bravo Award plaque

Team Bravo Award

The Starbucks Team Bravo Award is presented to a group of partners (3 or more) that have worked together to achieve goals that support the mission, values and objectives of Starbucks.  Teams that receive the Bravo! Award continuously strive to be their best while courageously leading themselves and others to achieve exceptional results.

Examples of actions and behaviors that have earned Team Bravo Awards

  • Above and beyond the call of duty performance on tasks related to partner’s job descriptions or specific team objectives.
  • Outstanding project team results.
  • Outstanding achievement on metrics related to service, sales, savings or quality.

Eligibility
All partners below the company officer level are eligible to receive a Team Bravo Award.

Selection Process

All Starbucks vice presidents and above may approve Team Bravo Awards.

QASA Recognition Program

Objective
The Quality Assurance Standards Audit (QASA) is one way to measure and drive continuous improvement on the execution of Starbucks food safety and cleanliness standards in our stores.  The QASA recognition program recognizes stores that demonstrate an exceptional level of adherence to quality assurance (QA) standards and celebrates qualifying scores with no critical opportunities.

Nomination Process
Stores are identified via the EcoSure report.  All stores that meet the minimum threshold will be provided with QASA recognition.  Contact the Region or Starbucks Recognition at Recognit@Starbucks.com for qualifying metrics for stores.

Award

There are two cycles of recognition in the QASA recognition program. Awards and rewards for both cycles are the same.

  • QASA Award certificate for the store
  • QASA pins for each store partner

Stores with overall scores of 100% with no critical opportunities will also receive a $250 Visa Card that may be used for a store party or for individual store partner rewards.

Presentation
Awards should be presented by district managers with the option of having regional directors or above participate in the presentation.

Green Apron Awards

Objective

The Green Apron Program encourages partners to create a positive environment by aspiring to be welcoming, genuine, knowledgeable, considerate and involved. 

Nomination
There is no formal nomination process. 

Eligibility
All partners are eligible to receive Green Apron Awards.

Frequency
There are no frequency limitations on Green Apron Awards.

Award
There are several Green Apron Program Award components. See below for specific awards and how they can be obtained.

Green Apron “On the Spot” Cards
All partners may present other partners with On the spot Green Apron Recognition Cards.
Cards are located in the back room of all company owned retail locations, lunch rooms of all roasting plants and copy rooms at the SSC and regional offices.
Cards may be ordered by emailing SCCO Customer Service (SCOCSrvc@starbucks.com) or through your manager’s workstation.  Cards are packed in bundles of 50 (10 cards for each of the five behaviors) -- SKU 188653.

Green Apron Certificates and Pins - Once a partner has received all five of the “On the Spot” awards, they are eligible to receive a Green Apron Award Certificate and pin.   Certificates and pins can be ordered from the warehouse using the following SKUs:

  • Be Welcoming Certificate and Pin – SKU #188811 – pins are sent individually.
  • Be Genuine Certificate and Pin – SKU #191886 – pins are sent individually.
  • Be Knowledgeable Certificate and Pin – SKU #191254 – pins are sent individually.
  • Be Considerate Certificate and Pin – SKU #191257 – pins are sent individually.
  • Be Involved Certificate and Pin – SKU #191255 – pins are sent individually.

Other Green Apron Program Recognition Items
The Green Apron items below are to be used for general recognition purposes centered around desired behaviors in any of the Green Apron Book five ways of being.

Green Apron Greeting Cards may be ordered by emailing SCCO Customer Service (SCOCSrvc@starbucks.com) or through your manager’s workstation.  Use SKU 191866 – cards are packed in bundles of 35 cards.

8 ½ x 11 color Green Apron Certificates are available on the Green Apron Portal in the e-card section.  There is a template for each of the five behaviors.  These certificates may be downloaded and personalized for the specific recognition needed.

Presentation Guidelines
Green Apron Awards are presented at formal and informal plant, department, store, district and regional meetings.

Spirit of Starbucks Award

The Spirit of Starbucks Award recognizes partners that make exceptional contributions to their partners, customers and community while embracing our mission and values. Partners that receive the Spirit of Starbucks Award are true champions of the Starbucks Culture.

Examples of behaviors that Spirit of Starbucks awards are presented for:

  • Organization of a successful event or activity that contributes to the community.
  • Achievements in the area of diversity and environment.
  • Assisting and supporting other partners, customers and the community in a manner that far exceeds daily job duties.

Eligibility
All partners below the company officer level are eligible to receive a Spirit of Starbucks Award.

Selection Process
All Starbucks vice presidents and above may approve Spirit of Starbucks Awards.

Manager of the Quarter Award

Objective

The Manager of the Quarter Award recognizes store managers who have made significant contributions in all areas of their store’s management and operations and who have demonstrated leadership qualities consistent with Starbucks culture and values. The 3 criteria of excellence are:

  • Results:  Accomplishments outcomes and impacts relative to goals.
  • Living our Mission and Values:  Exhibiting behaviors that demonstrate our mission and values.
  • Impact on others success:  The impact that comes from contributing to the success of others, beyond your role.

Eligibility
All Starbucks store managers are eligible to be nominated for a Starbucks Manager of the Quarter Award. 

Selection Process
Regional directors and their team of district managers select one Manager of the Quarter Award recipient per area per quarter.

All Manager of the Quarter award recipients for a specific region for that fiscal year are eligible to be considered for a Manager of the Year Award.

Manager of the Year award recipients are selected by the regional vice president, regional directors, and regional Partner Resources from the pool of eligible Managers of the Quarter.

District Manager of the Year Award
District Manager of the Year Nomination Form

Objective

District Manager of the Year Awards are presented to the outstanding District Managers of the Year for a particular region for a specific fiscal year.  Each region may present five District Manager of the Year Awards each fiscal year.  The categories and criteria are as follows:

Partner
A role model who inspires others to achieve excellence and who creates a constructive, supportive and powerful work environment by being dedicated to the ongoing training, development and continual learning of his or her partners. He or she expects and encourages full participation of partners in creating goals and developing plans to achieve their goals. This individual identifies and develops potential in partners and creates an environment that welcomes diversity.

Business
An individual who positively approaches and follows operational policies and procedures, yet also recognizes when it is appropriate to challenge them. He or she knows the importance of taking risks when necessary to increase the success of his or her store and Starbucks Coffee Company. An individual who recognizes and implements ways to promote the efficient use of company resources and positively contributes to the bottom line. He or she consistently recognizes that profitability is essential to our future success.

Customer
An individual whose actions reflect the highest quality of standards in all areas of his/her responsibility and who ensures the quality of Starbucks products and equipment.  An individual who consistently exceeds customer expectations and develops enthusiastically satisfied customers all of the time. This individual responds to the customer’s needs in a proactive manner. Someone who recognizes that his or her leadership role includes a responsibility to develop and preserve both the community and the environment.

Rookie
The outstanding new district manager of the year that excels in all of the areas listed above.

Overall
The most outstanding district manager of the year for a specific region.  This award recipient should have outstanding accomplishments in the areas of partner, business and customer.

Eligibility
All district managers for a specific region are eligible to be considered for a District Manager of the Year Award. 

Selection Process
District Manager of the Year Award recipients are selected by the regional vice president, regional directors and regional Partner Resources.

  • The recipient of the overall District Manager of the Year Award receives 150,000 Starbucks Reward Beans for redemption on the Starbucks Recognition website at www.sbuxrecognition.com

There are five District Manager of the Year Award recipients per region per fiscal year.

District Manager of the Year Awards are presented annually at Regional Leadership Conferences by division and regional leadership.

Store Partner of the Quarter Award (US Only)

Objective
The Store Partner of the Quarter Award Recognizes one partner per store, per quarter that has made significant contributions to their Starbucks store and demonstrates behaviors consistent with Starbucks mission and values. Recipients of the Store Partner of the Quarter Award should have significant, measurable contributions within the three criteria of excellence:

  • Creating inspired moments
  • Living our Mission and Values
  • Working Together

Eligibility
Partners that receive the Store Partner of the Quarter Award must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must work at a US Starbucks Coffee Company operated retail location
  • Must currently be in the position of:
    • Barista
    • Shift Supervisor
    • Café Attendant
    • Shift Manager
  • Must meet position performance criteria as determined by Store Manager

Nomination Process
Nominations are submitted by all partners in each store. A Store Manager reviews the nominations, selects the POQ for their store and confirms with their District Manager.

Award
Recipients of the Store Partner of the Quarter Award may receive:

  • Partner of the Quarter Award Pin
  • Partner of the Quarter Certificate
  • $75 bonus (paid by store that partner is working in)

Frequency
There is one Store Partner of the Quarter Award presented per store, per quarter. A store partner may only receive the Partner of the Quarter Award once each fiscal year.

Presentation Guidelines
Partner of the Quarter Awards are presented at formal meetings including but not limited to district meetings, holiday road shows, open forums and other organized leadership meetings.

Ordering Process
Partner of the Quarter packets that contain instructions, nomination cards and a Partner of the Quarter Pin are shipped to each eligible store once each quarter. If you are an eligible store and did not receive your packet or have lost your Partner of the Quarter Pin contact Starbucks Recognition at recognit@starbucks.com.

Five Year Anniversary Pins

Objective
Five-Year Anniversary awards are presented to active partners who reach five years of continuous (uninterrupted) service with Starbucks Coffee Company. 

Award
Recipients of the 5 Year Anniversary award may receive the following:

  • Commemorative Starbucks Five Year Anniversary Pin
  • 2,000 Starbucks Reward Beans for redemption on the Starbucks Recognition website at www.sbuxrecognition.com.

Presentation Guidelines
Five year Anniversary Awards are commonly presented at formal meetings including, but not limited to, store, district and department meetings or open forums.  Pins should be presented by the recipient’s direct supervisor, district manager, department head or other partner in the direct hierarchy of the recipient’s store or department.  Each presentation in a given store, district, area or department should be similar in order to prevent inequities in how anniversaries are celebrated. 

Ordering Process
Partner Services pays for all Anniversary Pins.

Non-retail

  • 5 Year Anniversary award pins are sent to the direct supervisor on record on a quarterly basis.
  • A list of recipients is sent prior to the quarter via email from Starbucks Partner Recognition for verification.
  • After confirmation of correct pin recipient allocation, pins are sent to the contacts for the entire quarter for distribution.
  • If a Five-Year Anniversary Award is lost, stolen or breaks please contact Starbucks Recognition for a replacement at Recognit@Starbucks.com.
  • If you have a partner working in your department or region that should receive a 5 year anniversary award and did not, contact your non-retail recognition contact or email Starbucks Recognition at Recognit@Starbucks.com.
